Editorial – Ed. 72

For this 72th Subject Review Section of Endopedonline we have  selected to comment on a recent publication of an interesting publication on the role of a microvascular endothelial dysfunction of the small vessels in human obesity (Virdis A et al, from the University of Padova, Italy, J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2019 Feb 1;104(2):341-348.), apparently secondary to a TNF-α activated chronic vascular inflammation, via different pathways, which includes hyperactivation of NAD(P) oxidase.

For the Bibliographic Revisions Section we have selected six recent publications (see bibliographic citations in the respective Section). The above-mentioned TNF-α gene polymorphisms and expression, the need to reduce the number of unnecessary thyroid biopsies in clinical practice, a study of the validation of algorithms to define abnormal growth in children, an European study of the risk of meningiomas in pediatric patients treated with growth hormone, the report of an accelerated pubertal tempo in a 46,XY aromatase-deficient patient, the success of the combination of oxytocin and naltrexone for the treatment of obesity developed post-surgery of craniopharyngioma resection.

No Images in Pediatric Endocrinology are available in this issue.
